DETERMINATION

Hi guys, this is my 5th blog post, and
would most likely be the last for this
blog and this English assignment so
hope it’s interesting J
This word determination, to me it has great
 meaning and depth and indescribable.
However, I will try to explain this word, in
my opinion to the fullest. I believe many of
us here has said the word determined or
determination. For example I am
determined to do…. And my determination
is to… but, how many times have we actually
set out to do what we have determined to
do. If we haven’t, how can we say that we
have the determination to do it. This, I believe
many of us have done, and personally, I feel
very regretful for not doing what I had set out to do.
These two words, ironically these 2 words
are often used together. I believe many parents
have heard their child or in fact ourselves
saying “ I’m really sorry mom. I feel very regretful
for not studying and getting such low marks.
I promise you that I will have the determination t
o study harder and get high marks”. And in the
end, the word regret is used again and so goes on the cycle.

However, we can use this word determination, yet again, to actually have the determination to carry out whatever things we are determined to do in the future and this, I believe can change our lives in terms of character. If we have completed what we are determined to do, we can proudly say to others “ I HAVE THE DETERMINATION TO SET OUT TO DO WHATEVER I’M DETERMINED TO DO!” .  I believe that many people can do this, as long as they have the right mindset, and to have the DETERMINATION!

BOOKS

Hi guys, this is my 4th blog post so hope it
is one of the best among the four.
I believe although many of us do not really l
ike to read books, however there would always be a certain
type of book which we sincerely enjoy. Therefore,
I would like to share to you guys about the type of
books I like to read. I think if you guys had read
the previous posts, I had lightly touched upon
what kind of books, which is Chinese books
related to china’s history. In Chinese, it would
normally be called “中国历史书”. I can
understand that a lot of people really hate this
kind of books as they feel it is boring and it is
a waste of time, including many of my friends,
but luckily I can tell you with confidence that I
don’t care what other people feels about me
reading Chinese books because this is my
passion and no one can stop me from doing
what I enjoy J You guys may ask, why would
I like to read such books? Well to be honest,
I don’t know the reason either but hey, do you
have an explanation to why do you like that
certain food? I guess not either. Anyways,
this hobby which I enjoy so much I believe
will help me in both my character building and studies.

However, there is this certain book which I like
the most. This is the book which first introduced
me into the world of china’s history. This book is
none other then “三国演义”,  Romance Of
The Three Kingdoms. There are many famous
scenes and chapters in this book. Each time I
read a different version of this book, I “温故知新”
which means remembering what happened, and
learning something new. However, my favorite
scene of all is where 2 geniuses fight to the death.
A Chinese idiom is also derived from this scene.
It is “既生瑜,何生亮” which actually means
since heaven has already given the world the
genius zhou yu, why does heaven want zhuge
liang to be born into this world, who is much
smarter than zhou yu. In the end, zhou yu dies
as he already had a wound and after zhuge liang r
epeatedly angering him, his wound split open,
resulting in him literally dying from anger.

HOME SWEET HOME

Hi guys, this is my third blog post so hope it is better then the previous ones J
This word home, to many different people it varies in meaning
and depth. For example, to some people home may refer to
just a house, or a family. Some people refer it to be hell to
them and others refer to it as heaven. Home has many
definitions, but to me, it has only 1, which is what makes
a home that is more important. That is the love between
my parents and me.This relationship between a child
and his/her parents is unbreakable and irreplaceable
by anything in this world. It is different from the love
between a couple as that love can be broken easily
for many people, u can change a husband or a wife
and divorce or re-marry. However, the relationship
between the parent and the child can never be broken
or changed. Even if he has a step-mother or step-father,
the bond between the original parent and the child is
always stronger. So goes the saying blood is thicker
than water. And it is this bond that is what makes a
family, and only with a family can you have a home.

However, I would also like to talk about my opinion
about the other meaning of home, which is your
actual house. I believe many of you guys have yet to
go to camp or army, therefore you would not
understand why people get homesick so easily.
You may be lying in your bed now enjoying life
but not knowing to realize that this is actually
your fortune to be able to relax in such a comfy
house while many others may be out there
suffering hoping to return home or wanting to
even have a home. Therefore I plead with you to
pay gratitude to your parents for giving you this
privilege, to stay in such a wonderful house.
But you will only truly realize how wonderful
your house, regardless of its size and age,
when u actually leave your house. You will
understand the freedom you receive to do
whatever you want when you are at home.
Even for example if you are staying overnight
at your friend’s house and it is much bigger
and luxurious than your own, u may still feel
that your small old house is much better than
his. As the Chinese saying goes “龙床不如狗窝”.

It means than even the emperor’s bed is not at all comparable to your lowly bed.

Therefore, i have a conclusion. HOME IS ALWAYS THE BEST!HOME SWEET HOME!

A Moment Spent Alone Doing Something I Enjoy

Hi guys, this is my second blog post so hope its better J Well for me, I personally like reading Chinese books on China’s history,
and the book I like most is called ‘’ The Romance Of The Three Kingdoms”

However, the thing i like to do most is to play games on the computer. 2 of the games i like to play most are Castle Age(or CA for short) from facebook, Mousehunt(mh for short) and Blackshot(or bs for short), a multi-player online shooting game. For CA, there is not much special about it, i just like playing it J

However, some people i know feel that mh is very boring and nothing is interesting but to me, i feel it is fun and it helps me to take a very short break ever 15 mins during studying. Also, you do not need to spend too much time on this game therefore i can play it in a very short time.

Finally, bs is one of the games i enjoy and like the most as not only me, but many of my friends also play it so we can play it together even though we are very far apart. This is also one of the main reason why i enjoy playing this game. Normally some people would think that i only play this game with a gun but WRONG. i enjoy using a knife weapon and play in a knife game where no gun allowed and only knives are allowed. this game mainly tests your reaction more than just aiming, which i feel is more of a challenge to me.

SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED IT SCHOOL

Hi guys. This is my first blog post so...
Firstly, i just wanted to share with you guys how i feel about home economics(home econs in short). Personally, i really love cooking very much and sewing too, so no matter how bad my end product would be, i would still be proud of my creation. Also, home econs is some sort of relief from normal daily lessons as it helps me to relieve stress as well. And i also want to share with you guys about my most recent home econs lesson a few days back as something special took place...
We started our home econs lesson as usual by wearing the thing that we use to cover our hair, our apron and got ready to enter the home econs room. And by the way i really hate the thing i use to cover my hair as it makes me very hot but well, if i don't put it on i guess i won't even have a chance to get high marks and my food will be contaminated. After we entered the room, our teacher told us that we were supposed to make fried bee tai mak but she said that bee tai mak would become soggy very easily so she changed it to fried noodles, and the noodles we used were the noodles used to make laksa as she said it would not be soggy easily. Then, she demonstrated to us how to do everything then we went off to take our ingredients. Unfortunately, the mushrooms we needed were dried mushrooms so we had to soak it in water for a period of time. then, we went off to cut up our ingredients and got ready our pan. Then, i suddenly noticed that our mushrooms we were soaking was not cut yet and the pan would be ready very soon so i immediately took a knife and chopped it up real fast, but unfortunately one of them was so hard that i couldn't cut it up easily so i just tore it into smaller pieces and started tossing in the ingredients. When my teacher walked pass us and saw our initial stage of stir-frying, she told me that it was not bad. I was really happy when she said that as i knew that me and my partner's effort would not go down the drain. But, something really bad happened to it. My partner added a little too much water, no, wait, a lot to much water to the product and it looked like soup noodles. At that moment, my partner noticed the same thing i noticed and we didn't know what to do. Finally, we decided that we would just do it our way and turned up the fire to hopefully boil and make the excess water evaporate. Then, we also decided to add the egg and sauce into it before the water was totally evaporated. Finally, we decided to serve it although it still has a little water in it. There it laid, our final product. We felt that it was an act of serendipity as although it wasn't fried noodles, it looked and tasted something like hor fun, and we felt it was great. Unfortunately, our teacher thought differently and because we created something we were not supposed to make, although it tasted great we only received 13 and a half marks.
Although i didn't get full marks, i loved my final product and so did my partner and i can tell you that i truly enjoyed that home econs lesson and i surely know that i would also enjoy the rest of the  home econs lessons.
